Tan Kian Teck graduated from National University of Singapore with a Bachelor of Arts (Architecture). He started photography in 1998 shooting mainly architecture and travel.
Through his university years, he has developed his own collection of works. In 2000, he won the first prize in the conventional (student) category of the Montage 2000 photographic competition. The subsequent year saw his work being displayed in the Montage 2001 photographic exhibition.
In 2004, Kian Teck teamed up with 10 other photographers from the Photographic Society of Singapore (PSS) to hold an exhibition named ‘Singapore River – A monochrome experience’.
With a design mindset from his architecture background, Kian Teck believes that there are more than many ways to express with a photograph. Experimentation and increasing exposure to photography has been crucial for Kian Teck to create outstanding and lasting images.
